Biden — for the second time in less than a week — falsely claims inflation "was at 9%" when he took office. It was 1.4% and:

I advised about the betting odds being the equivalent of the stock market demented reef fish, and here we are again.
The ”Biden recovery”(sic) saw Biden overtake Trump in the betting odds by 1.4 points (oh the pearl clutching not least among my followers.) Well, Trump is up almost 6 points now but, again, this emotion driven stuff can turn on a dime

“How Worried Should Biden Be About These New Polls?”
“In a new set of Times/Siena surveys, Biden trails Trump in five of six key swing states he won in 2020. But is it really as bad as it seems?”
Why yes, yes, it is.

Jonathan Chait: NY Magazine The Intelligencer;
“The American political landscape in 2024 seems like a very simple story that people continue to overcomplicate. There was a large, global surge in prices in 2021 and 2022 as the economy restarted following the COVID-19 pandemic. That inflation surge left Joe Biden, like leaders in almost every major democracy, deeply unpopular. Biden, like his global peers, has yet to recover.”
Unfortunately for Chait’s premise Biden’s so far irreversible decline commenced immediately after the Afghanistan fiasco August 16th 2021 and had little to do with inflation. There may have been some underlying incipient concerns about it, and there was the normal decline nearly all presidents get after initial elation, but the polling and graph show the absolute cause when people realized he was hopeless and out of his depth.
Even CNN agreed.
“Biden’s botched Afghan exit is a disaster at home and abroad long in the making”

This, by Chait, is also not true: “The point here is that Democrats have a Joe Biden problem, not a partywide problem. Regular, mainstream Democratic candidates are holding up just fine in the purple states”.
In reality in all of the Siena NY Times polled purple states every one of the Dem senate candidates including the sitting ones, are below 50%, Rosen in Arizona is tied on 41%
